Genealogy Research Methods course 2026
Whether you’re a beginner ready to build skills or an experienced researcher wanting to refine your methods, my Genealogy Research Methods online course will help you make real progress in your family history over six-month courses’ duration.
What you’ll learn:
In this course, you’ll work on your own family history as a case study. With guidance from an experienced genealogist, you’ll practice essential research skills including:
- Planning – set goals and focus your research
- Analysis – interpret records, identify gaps, and resolve conflicts
- Documentation – keep clear records of your sources and conclusions
- Using different types of evidence – apply methodology to both documentary records and DNA

Legacy Software Users Group
The Society’s Legacy Group sessions are suitable for beginners and also experienced users. Sessions are recorded, so you can attend live or watch the recording later. Copies of the slides are also provided.
