Six ways to find an article on my website

I have posted over one hundred articles on this website, containing family history tips to help you with your research. I am currently redesigning the site to provide you with more valuable content and make it easier for you to find answers to any questions that you may have. In the meantime, here are some tips for finding articles that are relevant to your needs.

How to find my articles containing family history tips

Browse

If you like to browse, go to the Blog page and scroll through the articles to find any that you want to read. The most recent article is listed first but you may also find older articles that are useful.

By category

If you are interested in particular types of articles, you can browse by Category. There is a list of Categories at the top right-hand side of each web page, except for the Home page. Choose the Category that interests you to generate a selection of articles. For example, click on the Maintenance Category and you will find articles such as Family History Spring Clean and Fixing Source Citations.

Search

If you want an article on a specific topic, you can use the Search bar. There is a Search bar on the right-hand side of each page of the website except the Home page (under the Subscribe button). Type in a search term to generate a list of articles relevant to that search term. For example, type in DNA and you will find articles such as DNA in Family History and More Than a Source Citation for DNA Evidence.

Indexes

If you prefer to use indexes to find relevant articles, go to the two pages called Research Methods and Resources. The Research Methods page has sub-pages for each chapter of my book, The Good Genealogist, and also a sub-page for DNA. Each of the sub-pages have indexed lists of articles for the topic. For example, the Plan sub-page lists articles about developing research leads and questions, managing your research and the FFANs technique. The Resources page has sub-pages for research tools and those pages have indexed lists of articles for each tool. For example, the Tree Health Assessment Tool page lists blog posts about that tool.
